Well, there are many ways to fight against them and it depends on what can and this is not intentional.
DESIGN:
You must first decide what theme that you want to go. If possible, a trebuchet would be optimal. A spring pulls the arm of some kind would be a good second.
You can find pictures on the Internet for most of their needs. Basically, you create a frame and have the NXT motors to control the release mechanism of choice. This can be as simple as a wheel mounted with a needle, so that when the wheel rotates, the screw moves outward.
CONSTRUCTION:
Construction wise to remember that triangles are strong, to build the armor. Thus the system is robust, broad-based, and the possible connections between the individual parts.
There are a few tips. I do not know exactly what you are capable, but a beginning.
