A computer has access to the disk when the system read command is issued, or a program that the research data on the disk. Otherwise, most computers, only on the disc during the initial startup sequence. I prefer to keep the disc and do not worry. I built a state of the computer and I installed a floppy drive. Why? This May, you save your **** when you really need, and some older programs and hardware drivers are still driving. In addition, everyone has a CD-RW or a luxury and a disk may be the only way to transfer data to another computer not connected to the network. Floppy disks are harmless, and if it breaks all the time to run, will cost about the same as two liters of gasoline today.
There are a number of switches only in the disc slot, which signals that the disk is inserted. Either the switch is closed, or when an electronic component in the drive is wrong and sends the wrong signal.
In the world of computers today, the disk is not used much. If you do not want due to the expense to replace it go, I recommend that you unplug the power cable and data cable unit and change the BIOS 'no floppy drive.
